God has high standards for the leaders of the faith. Malachi speaks of God’s anger when the scribes and the Pharisees do not give a good example for the people to follow. And Jesus criticizes the huge tassels, the places of honour at banquets, and the special titles of those trying to exalt themselves. They talk the talk, but they don’t walk the  walk. Paul compares doing God’s work to the gentle care a mother gives her babies when
fondling them and nursing them. The only great ones are the ones who serve others. The only ones who will be exalted are those who humble themselves.
