As we gather to celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord we recall that where He has gone we hope to follow and so we rejoice in thanksgiving for this great hope. The preface of the Mass tells us that He went to heaven, ‘not to abandon us, but to be our hope.’ The prospect for us is to go where He has gone – Christ today; the rest of us tomorrow.
