Upgrade of the Market Square in Athlone.

Over the last few weeks a number of people have spoken to me regarding the proposed upgrade / renovation of the Market Square in front of Ss. Peter and Paul’s Church.

While it is nice to see the upgrade it has raised concerns about parking especially at weekends and for funerals and weddings. As a Church community we are not alone in our concern regarding the lack of parking in Athlone and especially on the West Side of the town.

With this in mind I have written to the Local Westmeath County Councillors to ask about community involvement in the planning of the upgrades.
