The Heart of Our Journey: A Reflection on Corpus Christi
In the busy rhythm of our parish life, it is easy to view the Eucharist as one part of our Sunday routine—a sacred ritual that marks the beginning of our week. But as we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Church invites us to pause and consider the staggering reality of what we truly possess: the Real Presence of Christ in our midst.
· The word “Eucharist” comes from the Greek word for “thanksgiving.” Yet, Corpus Christi—the Body and Blood of Christ—is more than just an act of gratitude. It is an act of divine intimacy. In the humblest form of bread and wine, the Creator of the universe chooses to diminish Himself, becoming nourishment for our weary souls. He does not remain distant or abstract; He enters into our very biology, becoming part of who we are.
· This Feast reminds us that we are a “Eucharistic people.” We are invited to carry the presence of Christ out of these walls and into our homes, our workplaces, and our communities . Just as the bread is broken for the life of the world, we are called to be “broken and poured out” for one another—to be the hands, the feet, and the compassion of Jesus in a world that is often hungry for love but doesn’t know where to turn.
· As we process with the Blessed Sacrament this week, let us look upon the monstrance not just as an object of devotion, but as a mirror. Where is Christ in your life right now? Is He a guest or the host? Is He a Sunday visitor or the centre of your daily walk?
May this feast deepen our hunger for the Bread of Life and embolden us to be living tabernacles, radiating the light of Christ to everyone we encounter.
Wishing you all a blessed on the Feast of Corpus Christi.
