An update from our Parish Pastoral Council.
|During the month of November we reflect on our family members and friends who have died.
This year we will offer 7 Masses throughout the month for the Holy Souls. A remembrance Mass on Saturday November 25th to pray for and remember those who have died in the last 12 months.
Ministries
We are delighted that training of 13 new altar servers will begin shortly and the new servers will begin serving Mass from the first Sunday of Advent.
We need more Eucharistic Ministers, Readers and Collectors in Ss. Peter and Paul’s Church, you can put your name forward by contacting the office any of the clergy or on the volunteer section of the parish website.
St. Joseph’s Young Priest’s Society
We recently met with local and national members of the society and are hoping to reestablish an active group within the parishes of Ss. Peter and Paul’s Parish Athlone, Kiltoom Parish and Knockcroghery Parish. Our hope would be to have a group made up of people from all three areas. We also hope the groups will work with us to hold 6 Holy Hours each year, 2 in each parish, for Vocations. All of the Irish Priest’s I our Diocese have benefited from the prayers of the Society and from their generosity in assisting with the cost of their education and training. If you think you might be interested in the group please let us know and we will get a current member to contact you.
St. Vincent dePaul Society
We thank you for the dry foods you donated to the parish recently, they will be distributed to needy people in our community by St. Vincent dePaul.
Please note
The St. Vincent dePaul Church Gate collection will be coming up in early December, please consider helping them in their great work.
Advent
We will be inviting candidates for confirmation to light the candles on the Advent wreath during December.
Offertory
From the first Sunday of Advent we hope to invite first Holy Communion candidates to bring the gifts of bread and wine to the altar at the 6.30 vigil and 12 noon Masses.
Since Covid the priests have not been greeting you after Masses at the church door, we plan to resume the practice of meeting you at the front door of the churches after all weekend Masses from the first Sunday in Advent.
We take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the many people who give of their time and talents to support the parish. Your help and commitment is very much appreciated.
