Plenary Indulgences for November
|The Vatican has published the following regarding Plenary Indulgences during this period of pandemic.
In order to avoid the risks associated with crowds gathering, the Plenary Indulgences normally associated with November, for visiting a cemetery or for visiting a Church, may be obtained on any days during the month of November.
The usual conditions for gaining the indulgence include Confession, Holy Communion and Prayer for the Pope’s Intentions.
Under present circumstances, Confession and Holy Communion are not immediately possible because of the pandemic, it is sufficient that a person makes an Act of Contrition, rejects sin and has a firm intention to celebrate those Sacraments as soon as reasonably possible.
The elderly, the sick and all who for grave reasons are unable to leave their homes can also gain the indulgence at home, under the same conditions if they pray the Rosary, the Liturgy of the Hours, the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the faithful departed or spend time praying one of the Gospel passages from the funeral rite or perform a work of mercy, offering to God the pains and labours of their own lives.
