Covid-19 GOVERNMENT 5-LEVEL PLAN / How it will affect us
|We welcome the Governments 6 – 9-month Covid-19 plan that was launched today. The plan brings some clarity to matters relating to Covid 19 restrictions using a 5-level programme.
Under the new 5 levels we are currently in level 2 (the second best) this phase allows us
· To celebrate public Masses with limited numbers if we meet the criteria with ushers, cleaners, 2-meter social distancing etc.
· To celebrate Funerals & Weddings with a maximum of 50 persons in attendance.
· Should there be an upsurge in Cases of Covid-19, and we are ungraded to level 3 All public masses and religious services will stop, and all Masses will be said in private and live streamed.
For the sake of clarity these guidelines are projecting the Government’s view over the next 6 – 9 months. This means it is unlikely we will return to larger numbers at Masses etc before next summer at the earliest. This in turn will impact on the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation in 2021.
Additional Masses in Ss. Peter & Paul’s Parish
It is our hope to have a second weekend Mass and a mid-week Mass in St. Brigid’s Church Drum and another Sunday Mass in Ss. Peter & Paul’s Church in the coming weeks.
To allow us to proceed with this plan we will need additional Volunteers. We already have a lot of volunteers involved in the existing Masses, but it is not fair to expect people to help at more than one Mass at the weekend. Please contact either of the Parish offices or email the following details to
[email protected] Name, Address, Church you wish to Volunteer in, and the Mass you are free to help at.
