Newsletter January 8th 2017 (Baptism of the Lord)

John the Baptizer is preaching a baptism for repentance. But John announces that Jesus will baptize with the Holy spirit. In John’s time people came forward, were brought into the river to be immersed with the water, and then they were helped out. It was more than a shower – it was an underwater journey. Each person entered the death of not being able to breathe. Each person emerged into the new breath and cleanliness of refreshing, full life.
