10th Annual Mass of the Angels and unveiling of a Permanent Memorial
|The Ss. Peter and Paul’s Parish Pastoral Council are pleased to announce the date for its 10th annual Mass of the Angels, a deeply moving Mass dedicated to acknowledging and praying for the souls of babies and children who have died at any stage of life. This milestone year will also feature the unveiling and blessing of a new permanent monument in memory of these beloved little ones.
The concelebrated Mass will take place in Ss. Peter and Paul’s Church, Athlone, on Wednesday, August 20th, at 7:30 PM. Bishop Kevin Doran will serve as the main Celebrant and homilist for this significant occasion.
A special invitation is extended to all who have experienced the profound loss of a child, whether during pregnancy, at birth, or during childhood, regardless of how long ago or how the loss occurred. This Mass provides a sacred space for remembrance, comfort, and communal prayer.
Following the Mass, a monument dedicated in memory of these little ones will be unveiled and blessed in the church grounds. A spokesperson for the Parish Pastoral Council stated, “Our hope is that this monument will become a profound place of solace, hope, and unity for all who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child, offering a lasting tribute to their memory.”
All are welcome to attend this poignant memorial. The Parish Pastoral Council kindly asks the community to extend this invitation to anyone they know who has experienced the loss of a child, ensuring that this message of remembrance and support reaches those who need it most.
